How to Repair Your Luggage Sets?

Repairing luggage is a common question for the frequent travelers. It is not possible for such travelers to get new luggage sets every time on break down of some parts. The best option for such travelers is to learn how to repair luggage, so as to save a lot of trouble and money.

While repairing luggage sets, there are only two situations, where a repair can be done to make your luggage more functional.

Repairing Suitcase Wheels

Most of the people think that a broken wheel of the luggage is the end of the luggage set. But this is not true. You, can replace the wheels and make your suitcase run smoothly again.

In order to remove the old wheels, either use a screwdriver to unscrew the axel or pull out the rivets, depending on the type of case. Get the new wheels that will fit. You can find a variety of replacement wheels online. Screw them on to the luggage. Test out the wheels to make sure they aren’t wobbly, and adjust if necessary.

Repairing Zippers on Luggage

The other common feature that frequently breaks down are the zippers. If your zipper isn’t closing, then inspect it carefully to make sure that there aren’t any stray threads that are getting in the teeth of the zipper. If you find threads, use a small pair of scissors and tweezers to remove the threads.

While repairing a gaping zipper, remove the zipper off the bag at the metal stop, move the slider down the length of the zipper, and then realign the teeth a few at a time. Zip up the realigned teeth and then stitch the zipper back on the bag. You can also install your own zipper pull by removing the old pull completely with a pair of pliers. Then use jewelry wire to create a new pull with beads. Attach the new pull to the top loop of the slider and you should be able to use your zipper again.
